Leads and pipeline
Leads, opportunities and follow-ups against the same customer record as the books, and not available today.
This page describes software that is built but not yet licensed. No Moab Ledger license sold now includes it. If it is the reason you are looking at Moab, talk to us before you buy rather than after.
The idea
The usual arrangement is a CRM for sales and an accounting package for the books. The customer exists in both, and the two drift apart at once.
Then the question every owner eventually asks cannot be answered at all. What did we actually make on the work that came from that source?
The sale and the invoice live in different systems. There is no link between them.
The intent here is one record with a history. The inquiry, the quote, the job, the invoice, and whether it got paid.
Leads
Record inquiries with source, contact details and notes.
Source is worth filling in. It is what eventually tells you which of the things you do to find work is worth carrying on with.
Leads can be imported from a spreadsheet, mapping the columns as you go.
Pipeline
Opportunities move through stages you define. Each carries a value and an expected close date.
The pipeline view shows what is in front of you and what it is worth. For a business with seasonal work, that is the difference between seeing a quiet period six weeks out and finding it when it arrives.
Converting a lead
When a lead becomes real, convert it. Contact details, history and notes carry into the customer record. Nobody retypes them.
Nothing is stranded. The customer you invoice in March is the same record as the call you took in January, with everything attached.
Tasks
Follow-ups attach to the customer, lead or opportunity they belong to.
So the reason for the call is on the same screen as the call. And a promise made in a conversation does not depend on somebody's memory, or a note on a desk.
