Field Connect
Field Connect is the pair of phone apps for the driver and the dispatcher, and it is part of trucking, so it is not available today.
It closes the gap between the office and the work. One app for the people doing it, one for whoever dispatches them.
The office runs on a desktop. The work does not. That gap is where hours get rebuilt from memory on a Friday afternoon, and loads get remembered wrong.
This page describes software that exists and has been tested. What it does not have yet is a license you can buy.
Field Connect is licensed with trucking. A Moab Ledger license bought now will not include it when it arrives. If it is the reason you are looking at Moab, talk to us before you buy. We would rather lose the sale than have you find this at renewal.
For the driver or the crew
An app built to be used in a cab or a yard, with gloves on, by somebody who did not ask for another app.
- Clock in and out. Hours are recorded where the work happens. Not rebuilt from memory on Friday.
- Log a load. One or several, with the detail the office needs.
- Log fuel. Including the by-state split when a trip crosses a line.
- Off-road miles, recorded separately, because they are taxed differently.
- Inspections, pre-trip and post-trip, on the vehicle they are assigned to.
- Today, and history. What they logged, so a correction does not need a phone call.
For dispatch
Assign work and see where it stands.
Dispatch from the desktop or the admin app. The driver sees the assignment on their phone. Messages go both ways, so "where are you" does not mean ringing somebody who is driving.
A live map and a status view show what is in progress.
It works without signal
This is the thing that decides whether an app like this survives contact with reality.
Entries made out of coverage are held on the device. They sync when signal comes back. Nobody asks the driver to remember what they could not record.
It reaches the accounting
Timecards, loads and fuel arrive in the desktop as data. Not as a report for somebody to re-key.
Vehicles, sites, materials and fuel sites go the other way. So a driver picks from your actual list instead of typing a site name four different ways.
The office stays the system of record. What comes from the field is proposed into the desktop. The desktop is the only thing that writes to your books.
Pairing and devices
A device pairs with a code generated in the office. No account creation. No password reset workflow for somebody standing beside a truck.
One device per person. A driver's login works on one phone at a time. Pairing a new device retires the old one.
The server enforces that. It is not left to an office policy.
An account quietly shared between two drivers puts two people's hours under one name. That is a payroll problem and a compliance problem before it is an honesty problem.
Devices can be listed, and access revoked, from the desktop.
